In this third intro webinar of OPEN 2020 we hear from Xavier Damman, of Open Collective – which lets groups manage their finances so everyone can see where money comes from and where it goes, without requiring the group to be an incorporated entity.
Open Collective’s mission is to:
Help organize the world in open circles, where everyone can contribute.
They are starting with financial contributions, enabling communities to raise money while staying true to who they are.
Circumventing the need to incorporate, and enabling groups to receive and disburse funds is an important step to liberating working groups, which cuts through ‘red tape’ and avoids stifling innovation.
Open Collective have recently helped The Social Change Agency onboard dozens of mutual aid groups across the UK to deal with COVID-19 and Amy, from The Social Change Agency, talks us through how they use Open Collective to support these groups. The breakout sessions then lead on to a discussion about mutual credit and money – which will be the subject of another OPEN webinar.
