John McDonnell on enabling mass participation to create a democratic economy

In this mini video the Rt Hon John McDonnell MP, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, speaks about Labour’s thoughts on enabling mass participation to create a democratic economy.

We’ve never hear an UK MP speak so candidly about utilising online tools to enable mass participation in the democratic process and are very excited about what this could mean. John McDonnell will be at the OPEN 2017 – Platform Co-ops conference to learn more about how to make this happen.

Join John McDonnell at the conference and have your say.

  1. In reference to John McDonnell’s statement showing the urgency of participatory democracy… this has always been practised within ‘workers Co-operatives’ and is the very essence of co-operation.
The Co-op Party recently held an ‘Economy Conference’ at Coin Street Conference Centre leading towards this year’s centenary anniversary of the Co-op Party (1917 – 2017) and it’s political aims and objectives. James Scott (Co-op Party Policy Officer) kicked off the debates – however there are still gaps in policies on education and culture. Hopefully the “Collaborative Economy 2017” conference will open up new frontiers on these important economic sectors.
