Tiki Work

Principles

We work according to the Open Co-op's principles

Goals

To make the Open Co-op tikiwiki more useful as a support for the growing Open Co-op community by
  • clearing up some smaller bugs and problems with the site
  • adding facilities groups so that Open Co-op can offer its working groups and partner organisations semi-autonomous facilities for keeping themselves organised.
Measurable results: Outlined in Tasks

Time Plan

This work is ongoing, but will hopefully be "officially" starting on Monday 4th April, 2005, as we kick-off our month of Ultimate Tiki Support/Development from Damain.

Tiki Development

Add suggestions below:

The main thing we want is Damian's Project Management section (although we have yet to see what this will be able to do). We want to be able to create 'Group pages' and allow many different groups to have their own home pages (where they get routed to automatically) which keep them up to date with all developments in their 'group'.
  • Features we want for groups:
    • Avatars of group members displayed on group homepage
    • Simple "Start a Group" form, building on what we've done with templates, but probably be using trackers. (We also want an improved sign-up/ergister form for individuals that collects more information
    • Ability for people to be able to "Click Here to Join this Group", probably a "Join Group" button/link
    • Each Group should automatically have it's own
      • homepage,
      • blog
      • forum.
    • Proper Use of Categories, so that links to related/group pages are displayed.
    • Improve Categories so that we can use them as a site struture/nav (as in ZenCart). We would also like to create some structure/way that forces new wiki pages (particularly those created by people in 'groups') into their 'category' therefore encouraging relevant files to stay together (eg. a page created from "Diss Food Group" homepage would automatically be placed in the "Food" and "Diss" categories). Initially, we want each group to be categorised into at least 2 categories, according to:
      • Industry/Sector eg. Food
      • Geography eg. Europe, Norfolk, Diss etc.
    • Change the 'score' on comments to: -2 to 2, to allow people to rate bad comments as bad.
    • Investigate the possibility of incorporating the -2 to 2 score into a user's 'score' as the begining's of our reputation network. I think this is probably best done using a simple tracker solution, as on nguild.

Summaries

A Tiki Work Blog has been started to keep groups members and others up-to-date with what's happening.

Interdependencies

Who is the group's work meant to affect?

All users of the site (We will have to survey users to see what they want/like/dont like, and allow them to participate in our decision-making.)

Whose work will affect this group?

Tikiwiki.org (monitor this carefully)

Decision Making

We will make decision according to the OpenOrg Guidelines for Consensus Decision-Making
This process can be conducted via e-mail, mailing lists or by creating wiki pages (linked from here).
  • Current Proposals
    • UltimateTikiMonthAgreement - the official agreement between The Open Co-op/uniteddiversity (sponsors of the month) and Damian (of Damosoft).
  • Archives
